Producer. Presenter. Commentator.

Most people in sports media do one job. Jordan runs the desk, fronts the coverage, and calls the game. Multi-sport, with rugby as the flagship.

IN THE GALLERY

Radio Producer

Learned the discipline in live sports radio at SEN: building shows end to end, wrangling guests and talkback, and keeping a programme tight when the game refuses to cooperate.

PITCH-SIDE

Presenter & Reporter

Fronts coverage from the studio to the sideline, including pitch-side duties on Stan Sport's rugby broadcasts, from Wallaroos Tests to the World Rugby U20 Championship.

IN THE BOOTH

Commentator

Play-by-play across rugby union and league, with the discipline to let the big moments breathe, plus a weekly podcast's worth of reps calling the game in his own time.

Play by Play Podcast

Jordan's own show, and proof he calls sport even when nobody's paying him to.

Play by Play is the weekly show Jordan co-hosts with Reegan Muir: rugby league and rugby union, called the way mates talk about footy. Picks, player debates, and the occasional apology when the picks go wrong.

The show has covered Rugby World Cup weeks, State of Origin, Bledisloe picks and Super Saturday wraps, and has pulled in guests like All Blacks great Justin Marshall. It's also the best evidence on this site that Jordan does this out of genuine obsession. The podcast is built in his own time, every week.

Gold Coast kid, national broadcasts

Jordan Hughes pitch-side with a Stan Sport microphone

Jordan Hughes is a Gold Coast based sports broadcaster working across streaming, radio and digital. He is currently part of Stan Sport's rugby coverage, with credits on RugbyPass TV and a career that runs through SEN radio, the National Rugby League and Entain.

The range is the point. He's produced live sports radio, made content inside league's head office, and worked pitch-side on national rugby broadcasts, including Wallaroos Tests and the World Rugby U20 Championship, alongside voices like Greg Clark. Multi-sport by instinct, rugby by obsession: union and league both get the full treatment.

And when the roster doesn't have him on, he broadcasts anyway, co-hosting the Play by Play podcast with Reegan Muir every week. He's open to commentary, presenting, production and hosting opportunities across sport.

The road to the booth

  1. The start

    Bond University, Gold Coast

Where broadcasting stopped being the thing he yelled at the TV and became the plan.

  2. The grind

    Entain Australia & New Zealand

Sports content at wagering pace: daily output, every code, no slow news days.

  3. League HQ

    National Rugby League

Inside the head office of Australia's biggest competition, making content for the game's largest audience.

  4. Live radio

    Sports Entertainment Network

Producing live sports radio at SEN, where the rundown changes mid-segment and dead air is the enemy.

  5. Now

    Stan Sport

Part of the rugby broadcast team, pitch-side for Wallaroos Tests and the World Rugby U20 Championship, with credits on RugbyPass TV.
